"Star Service Stickers"
To those who have come to my blog looking for the "Star Service Stickers" idea, I apologize for the wait. That couple days turned into a week I am sorry. Anyway, it's here now...
Star Service Stickers,
This was so much fun to do at Snow College here in Utah (but it can be adapted for high school, middle school, and maybe even elementary school). There was far more success than I had expected!
We went to our local Walmart and bought a few packages of the star stickers (they were the most affordable at the time. :) ) We cut them into strips with 5 to10 stickers on each strip. Everyone in our service group took a "starter strip", as well as one strip per star on the strip, i.e. if there were 8 stars on a strip, they took 8 extra strips (having 9 total strips). For every star we gave away, we gave away one strip of stars also.
The rules for giving away a star:
1. Find a friend, a stranger, someone who looks like they need a pick-me-up, etc.
2. Stick the star to that person and tell them something nice: Thank you for being such a great friend, you are wonderful, you are so smart, I like your shoes, etc.
3. Give the person you just gave a star to a strip, and have them follow rules 1 and 2 (above).
4. Do this until all of your stars and strips are gone, then sit back and watch!
As I was walking from class to class, I saw people who I had never met with stars on their hands, clothes, face, etc. That evening, I went to one of my night classes. One of my friends, was sitting there with a huge smile on here face. I asked her what was going on. She told me that she had been having a really bad day, then some guy, who noticed that she looked kind of down, came up to her, gave her a star and told her something very sweet. That one act of kindness flipped her horrible day into a very happy one. She sat there and rubbed that star with a smile on her face the rest of the class.... I don't think she learned a thing that night, good thing it was an institute choir class. :)
Then I got home that night, and one of my roommates came running up to me to tell me about her exciting day (she had not been home, and had no idea what was going on with the stars), she told me she was talking with one of her friends who had a star on his hand. She told him that she had seen a lot of people with star stickers and she was bummed that she didn't have one. He told her where he had gotten his from, then he gave his only star to her. (He was just the recipient, he didn't get any strips to hand out himself) I believe she stuck it in her journal that night with her sweet story. There are countless stories just like these two.
This service project was so simple, but it brought a little bit of joy to those who gave and received.

These are the items that I currently have posted on Etsy.com! They were so much fun to make, and the girls wish we could keep them all!

Customize a slideshow |
This is dedicated to all of the wonderful fathers who have molded our lives and given us everything. We all love you very much, thank you for your incredible influence in our lives! Happy Father's Day!
BIG NOTE: BART GRANT HAS FOURTEEN CHILDREN!!!! Silly search engines....haha...ha....
I am Sorry. I had been reminiscing in the memories that I have of the past six years. Specifically our wedding day. 13 was a very prominent number... our wedding day (Friday, August 13), 13 bridesmaids, marrying into a family with 13 children (and one little sweetheart on the way), (One very special friends birthday) etc. Anyway, again I am sorry Dad/Grandpa Grant for the mistake! Thank you Great/Grandma Grant for pointing this out! :D
Happy Fathers Day Daddy!

Kevin is one amazing husband! I love him so very much. He is always there for me and the girls. He always goes the extra mile in anything. Right now (well, not today :) ) I am trying to start a new business and his support has been outrageous! From making phone calls, to playing with the girls, to endlessly walking with the girls around craft stores while I am trying to find the perfect items... I know right? Incredible! And through all of this, he still manages to keep us all smiling and laughing. Here is one example of this, we went to one craft store the other day here in Logan. On one of the isles there were a bunch of loud, slightly annoying egg timers that Kevin and the girls just loved. Kevin loved them so much that he set every single one of them to go off 50 minutes later. Oh, how I wish we were in the store with a camera when that happened! (It was not a secluded isle)
He does other things to make me smile: The dishes, the laundry, vacuum... to sum it up... Housework. My husband will help with the housework. Oh yes, this makes us all smile. He plays with Ammie and Amberly everyday. Today at our Stake Conference someone said that the best way to spell Love is T I M E. It is absolutely true. Kevin is the winner of this Spelling Bee! He spells love everyday, all day long! Even when he is indirectly giving to his family while he is in school full time as an Electrical Engineer, and working at Home Depot, he still somehow manages to give of his time, despite his super busy schedule, directly to his family. That, to me, is Fatherhood at it's best!
Yes, Kevin is my Hero and the absolute Best Husband and Father Ever!
Happy Father's Day Handsome! I Love You Kevin!

Time Management
"Have a time and place for everything, and do everything in its time and place, and you will not only accomplish more, but have far more leisure than those who are always hurrying." - Tyron Edwards
Now on how to do this... well, I really don't know for sure. It still sounds very nice though!

Be Prepared
"When you're drowning, it doesn't matter that you swam most of the way across the ocean. In the end, being partway isn't good enough." Just keep swimming, just keep swimming, just keep swimming, swimming, swimming, swimming....
If all the Snow Flakes were Candy Bars and Milk Shakes....
Christmas 2010
Pictures coming soon. And yes, they are cute!
What a wonderful husband I have! He doesn't just put on the lights, he wraps each individual tree branch. I think there were 1200 lights on this tree last year. If we wanted immediate comfort from the cold, no my friends we did not lay on the heater vent, we stood by the Christmas Tree. Awesome.
This one is just pretty. That is all.
TaDa! The final product! It was even brighter (and warmer) than it looks. And very Beautiful.
We had some really sweet neighbors who brought us what everyone needs in a recession... Dough! So we cooked it... and we got a little smiling dough baby. Of course, when your cookie is smiling at you, one must really take a picture.
And when your cookie starts to look slightly sinister, one must put the camera away. Don't worry, we got rid of it quickly... and yes it was delicious!

This Gal walks into Home Depot...
Kevin often comes home with some pretty interesting/funny stories in regards to the customers at Home Depot.
The other day, there was a lady who came in looking for a toilet and proceeded to tell Kevin that their little child flushed a toy down the toilet. The husband insisted on fixing the situation. The wife steps back and lets her husband save the day. A little while later she hears a huge crash. She runs to the bathroom only to discover a completely smashed, destroyed toilet! Her sweet husband couldn't fix the toilet so he got a bigger hammer and with a little frustration... smashed the thing to bits. She got to pick up the pieces, and buy a new toilet! Yeah, I don't think they ever found the toy. :(
She said she would e-mail Kevin the pictures. We haven't seen any yet, but if we do, they will totally be posted here! (However, I believe this macho husband probably protested her decision to show this story to the world. :D)
Just a note: It is possible to flush a toilet paper roll holder down a toilet! Luckily I caught the spring... eww, right? Kevin says that could have led to some problems...
What fun things have you flushed down the toilet!?!

DUMMY Delights!
Alright, I think I figured out how to make this blog look much better than a blank white page. Yes!
Kande does takes time to make, so I hope to have some to share soon. While you wait, enjoy a video or two...assuming I set it up correctly. :)
*Just a note... if the videos seem questionable, I am sorry! It keeps randomly going to the default videos that were there before I saved my videos. I'm still trying to figure it all out.*
FUN FACT: Did you know the DUM DUM mystery sucker is really a combination of many flavors!?! Yep! When they change flavors it's the mixture in between that they use to make this "DUMMY Delights"!
